Hospital yet to find out if death was Covid-related
THE Morobe Provincial Health Authority is yet to determine whether a person who died at the Angau Hospital on Monday was suffering from the Covid-19.
Authority chief executive officer Dr Kipas Binga said the person had other underlying medical conditions.
“The cause of death will come later after verifications are done,” Binga said.
“At the moment, it is not a Covid-19 casualty.”
The body has been isolated in the morgue.
Binga said Morobe reported three new Covid-19 cases last week including the one who died on Monday.
He had a history of travelling to Port Moresby and back.
Binga said contact tracing had started and they were now awaiting the results.
“Some of those close to those reported with the Covid-19 had negative results,” he said.
He urged the people in Lae to remain alert as the virus had not gone away.
“It is here and will stay,” Binga said.
“People have to take precautions and observe protocols to avoid contracting the disease.”
He said Morobe had nine Covid-19 cases most of which were asymptomatic, some with mild symptoms who were treated at home.

Can they also investigate why other patients die in hospitals during COVID?
