The new Sanctuary Hotel and Spa in Port Moresby is in support of education and women empowerment in PNG through the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) PNG.
MPIP PNG announced the hotel and spa has joining its existing sponsors this year as second entrant, 23 year-old Florence Daple’s sponsor.
Representative of the Pang family who owns the hotel, Bella Pang said the company was impressed with what the pageant did in empowering women through providing scholarships and the support it provides for local designers in the country through the project runway.
“What MPIP PNG does is very much in line with what we stand for in the community and we believe in creating opportunities for women,” Pang said.
Since Rapopo Plantation Resort in East New Britain is also owned by the same family, Daple will be Miss Sanctuary and Rapopo Hotel and Resort. Pang said Daple has a great personality and looks forward to her being an ambassador for both their hotel and resort.
Chairperson for the MPIP PNG committee, Molly O’Rourke thanked the Pang family for their support in the pageant.
O’Rourke said they aim to select a contestant who is the embodiment of the modern PNG women who are both educated and culturally aware and can represent PNG.
