FIVE hotels and motels in Lae where people who attended a workshop someone with a confirmed Covid-19 case are ensuring the safety of workers and guests.
Those who attended the workshop on Monday and Tuesday had been staying at the Lae International Hotel where the meeting was held, Huon Gulf Motel, Hotel Morobe, Value Inn and Lae Travellers Inn.
Lae International Hotel staff are enforcing hygiene protocols on everyone entering the premises.
Hotel Morobe manager Mark Maniaol said they were doing everything to ensure the safety of workers and guests.
“We are practising social distancing, wearing of masks, gloves and we are sanitising all surfaces and areas where people sit and touch regularly,” Maniaol said.
He said they were constantly monitoring temperatures of guests and employees.
Lae Travellers Inn human resource manager Belinda Edwards said they were working with the Morobe Health Authority to ensure their staff and guests were safe.
A 37-year-old man who flew into Lae from Port Moresby on Sunday to attend the workshop tested positive on Tuesday.
Morobe Health Authority chief executive officer Dr Kipas Binga said the man was recovering.
