SPEAKER Jeffery Nape in an unprecedented move recalled parliament last Friday to correct what he called procedural matters in line with the standing orders.
Twenty-five MPs turned up so that parliament could be properly adjourned to 10am tomorrow.
Last Thursday morning, parliament was adjourned to tomorrow as there was no quorum. Most MPs were attending the government caucus to discuss the Supreme Court decision on the judicial conduct
law.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill explained that the house had been adjourned without correct procedures and the recall last Friday was to correct that oversight.
O’Neill said standing orders stated that parliament at its rising must adjourn to the following day but it was adjourned to Tuesday instead of Friday.
He said the recall of the house last Friday was to correct that.
