Housing estate ownership ‘verified’

OFFICERS from the Hidden Valley Gold Mine say the housing estate at 10 Mile is not built for their employees.
A senior officer said the estate was owned by the Hornibrooks Construction company.
“It does not belong to us. “Hornibrooks is a business operation and can do whatever it thinks suitable,” he said.
Landowners have long held the view that the estate is owned by the parent company of Hidden Valley Gold Mine, the Morobe Mining Joint Ventures.
They have often argued that “under conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement” signed in August 2005 in Wau, the developer of the mine would have to build a township in Wau.
