I WOULD like to send my condolences to the family members of the two innocent young men from Hanuabada village that were shot dead by rogue police officers.

During the New Year’s Eve, a young woman was also brutally shot dead by police officers in Lae when she was returning home from a night club.

The duty of a police officer is to protect.

Many young police officers do not perform their duties as expected.

Discipline is no longer maintained as it is things of the past.

Orders and instructions given by their immediate supervisors have been disobeyed.

Many of them did not complete grade 12 and used other peoples’ school certificates.

The police killings and other police brutality in the country are some of the contributing factors of the HR team for not properly screening the police applicants during recruiting.
