HUGO Canning Ltd has come on board the Miss South Pacific Pageant PNG 2012, sponsoring 23-year-old Christine Kaupa as Miss Sapphire Springs.
A marketing executive with Digicel PNG, the enthusiastic young lass of Chimbu, Morobe and East-Sepik parentage is looking forward to entering the pageant and realising her full potential.
Kaupa hopes to complete her degree in political science at the University of Papua New Guinea.
Hugo Canning Ltd general manager David Slape said exciting times lay ahead for Miss Sapphire Springs, who was the first of four contestants entered in the pageant with a confirmed sponsor.
Slape said Kaupa was an outstanding young PNG woman and would be an excellent ambassador for her country.
He wished Kaupa and other entrants’ success in this year’s pageant that gave young PNG women the opportunity to showcase their attributes, intelligence, culture and talents.
Last year’s inaugural contest was a major success.
Money raised from the pageant goes towards a scholarship fund to help young PNG women in completing a tertiary education.
The first recipient of the pageant scholarship fund was Nicole Jeune.
The television personality is set to leave home to study abroad about television production.
The pageant crowning night is set for Oct 20 at the Dynasty Restaurant, Vision City Mega Mall.
