EDUCATION remains the priority of the West New Britain provincial government, Governor Peter Humphreys says.
He made the comment at Healla Primary School where he presented K120,000 allocated under the provincial government’s K132 million budget passed early this year and funded through the New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBPOL) Investment.
Humphreys said the provincial executive arm was focused on working alongside the company, established under the private public partnership, to implement such projects for the benefit of parents and children.
Humphreys, who skipped parliament to be at the school, said parliament sessions were important but he was happy to be with the students and his people.
He challenged parents who turned up to witness the presentation to be devoted and to
invest in the well-being of their children.
He said this would set the foundation for positive progress into their future.
Healla Primary School head teacher Alex Nara, who was recognised by the visiting delegation as one of the longest serving teachers in the province, thanked Humphreys for responding to the school’s proposal.
Nara said the school had met the requirements of transparency by knocking with honesty on the government’s door.
Humphreys was given a traditional welcome.
Neatly dressed students in green and gold uniforms also formed a guard of honour.
