HUNDREDS from the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faithful across the country are mourning the death of national president Geoffrey Pomaleu.
Yesterday, late Pomaleu’s casket was taken up to Mt Hagen for the Western Highlands Mission to pay their respects before he was flown down to Madang.
Late Pomaleu’s body was carried through a convoy into the Western Highlands Mission where a huge turnout was waiting for the official memorial funeral.
A guard of honour was accorded to the leader of the church by police and correctional service band from Baisu jail and SDA Church group members.
His brother Ivan Pomaleu described Geoffrey as a great leader of the church in the country and man of God.
Ivan thanked church members and followers who came from Jiwaka, Western Highlands, Enga, Southern Highlands, Hela (all under Western Highlands Mission) and some from Western for turning up for the funeral.
After Madang, late Pomaleu would be taken to Kavieng then Manus, his birth place, where he will be buried.
Late Pomaleu passed away in Lae last week Monday, and is survived by his wife and three children.
