Hunt for ATM suspect
The National, Tuesday February 24th, 2015
Police in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, are looking for a man who broke the glass door of an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) outlet on Saturday night.
The incident happened between 10-10.30pm at the Bank South Pacific branch in Goroka.
Police said the suspect was reportedly drunk and came to the ATM outlet and demanded the guards open the door for him so he could get some money. The duty guards informed him that there was no money as all the machines inside the room had run out of cash.
David Wagl, a guard with G4S security the firm contracted to man the location, said the suspect got frustrated with the guards’ response and banged his head against the glass door. “The glass cracked and the man sustained cuts and bruises on his face,” Wagl said.
