Hunt on for 11 high-risk fugitives

EAST New Britain police are on the hunt for 11 high-risk fugitives who broke out of Kerevat Prison last Friday, commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali says.
“The fugitives committed serious offences are considered very dangerous,” he said.
“I am appealing to the public to help the police to recapture them by providing information on their whereabouts.”
Chief Insp Tabali said the prisoners broke out of the prison between 7pm and 8pm and that a combined special operation force comprising police, mobile squad 17 and prison wardens swung into action to recapture the escapees.
Chief Insp Tabali released details of the fugitives for the public to help keep an eye out for them.
They are:

  • ADRIAN Makip, from Nipa, Southern Highlands, resided in Ulaveo plantation in Kokopo. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery;
  • BEN Waruruai, from Totovel village in the Reimber-Livuan local level government (LLG) in Gazelle, was arrested and charged with murder;
  • BRADLEY Apelis, from Moalim village in the Duke of York Islands LLG of Kokopo resided in Tokua plantation in Kokopo. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery;
  • MAXON Kevin, from Meselea village in the Kandrian, West New Britain, resided in Ulaveo plantation. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery;
  • MAPUA Tobata and Jerry Aquila, are both from Ialakua village in the Raluana LLG of Kokopo. They were arrested and charged with murder;
  • BARTILOM Junior Peter, from Malakuna 5 village in the Bitapaka LLG in Kokopo, was arrested and charged with rape;
  • GANRIEL Kakak, from Vunamami in the Kokopo-Vunamami urban LLG, was arrested and charged with armed robbery;
  • CHARLIE Vincent, from Kairiru Island in Wewak, East Sepik, who was arrested and charged with armed robbery;
  • WESLEY Gola from Hilahitha 1 village in Maprik, East Sepik; and,
  • SAMSON Peter, who was convicted for having dangerous drugs and offensive weapons by the Kokopo National Court and was jailed for a year, 11 months and 17 days with hard labour.
