Hunters challenged

Letters

PNG Hunters went down big time to Burleigh Bears 56–4.
What an embarrassment.
So now its blame game time so let’s see from here whom to blame.
Is it the coach and coach staff or the players?
From the beginning, the Hunters were bombarded with so many problems such as the loss experience players, the departure of Nigel Hukula, continuously recruiting new players, players not following team protocols strictly, players missing training (especially by senior players which sets a bad example to their younger teammates) and getting suspected after every game.
We also had the coach picking debutants at almost every game and players being dropped for non-performance.
Selection was also an issue with unsuitable players being picked from Digicel Cup which attributed to the Hunters’ losses.
Maybe the players’ package needs to be reviewed and
make it attractive to motivate players to thrive to be best in every game.
These are of course some or most of the contributing
factor towards Hunters continuous loss.
What should be done?
Michael Marum needs an assistant coach.
Right now, there is no assistant coach.
Who are the trainers as well?
The players also need to step up.
Does the trainer train the players on ball execution?
If so, then it seems that the players are not executing game plan in every single game.
All the players seem to play the “one man game” to show-off their muscle.
There is hardly any game plan orchestrated by key players
like hooker, half-back and five-eight?
Ase Boas is not organising and directing the game plan.
He is not even talking on the field.
His performance is also going from bad to worse.
I believe, the coach shows video session but yet the players are hardly improving.
They are like babies that need to be spoon fed or something.
The game between Hunters and Burleigh Bears shows that the Hunters players were no way near match with Burleigh Bears in terms of size, height and built.
There you go, the coach.
Other teams also have same players’ attributes so Hunters Coach needs big improvement in this area as well with the kind of players he is recruiting.
It’s time to stop recruiting players with short height.
Wake up coach.
