THE SP PNG Hunters gala dinner at the Stanley Hotel last Friday night raised more than K100,000, according to Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka.
The evening also saw an auction of signed Brisbane Broncos, PNG Hunters, PNG Kumuls and Lae Tigers jerseys which fetched a total of K48,600.
The highest framed Broncos jersey signed by the 2018 team fetched K11,000.
The next highest bid was for the Hunters and the Tigers jerseys which were sold for K10,000 while the PNG Kumuls souvenir fetched K9000.
Broncos merchandise such as jerseys and T-shirts also sold during the evening were readily snatched up by avid club fans in the city.
The Broncos and their legendary coach Wayne Bennett and team management were special guests at the dinner to support the Hunters cause for the 2018 season.
For someone who is efficient with time as a coach, Bennett was the first person at the venue at 6pm.
It was a night for the Hunters and Broncos and the players mixed freely together at the tables while fans sought autographs, took pictures and chatted with the NRL stars and PNG Hunters.
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka said the exact amount raised was still not known but believed it would have exceeded K100,000.
Tsaka thanked the Brisbane Broncos management and the sponsors of the dinner for its success and rasing the funds for 2018 season.
