PAPUA New Guinea  Hunters forward Timothy Lomai was suspended yesterday from the club’s pre-season camp — and further training  — due to his failure in maintaining the values expected of the playing group.

According to PNGRFL chief executive officer Bob Cutmore, the suspension may and can be lifted depending on Lomai’s ongoing commitment and dedication to the stated values of the Hunters and his willingness to show his fellow players and Hunters staff that he is determined to do his best for the team.

Cutmore is watching over the team as it continues its pre-season training this month, with coach Michael Marum on a short stint with the Brisbane Broncos.

“No further comment will be made in respect to the suspension but it is hoped that Timothy, through the actions he now takes, will re-join the squad,” a statement released by the PNGRFL said.

The Hunters’ values as outlined by the PNGRFL involve the players’ commitment to the team and in maintaining personal integrity and professionalism as well as respecting the group and what it stands for.

Lomai could not be contacted for comment yesterday but it is believed he missed several training sessions and failed to adequately notify team management.
