Hunters to launch 2015 Queensland Cup season
The National, Wednesday February 25th, 2015
THE Papua New Guinea Hunters will officially launch their assault on the Queensland Cup 2015 season on Sunday in Port Moresby.
The entire team and coaching staff will be present with the new-look squad to be introduced to the audience, along with new player profiles.
The new playing kit will be auctioned-off, along with other rugby league memorabilia. The highly anticipated new season promotional video will be aired for the first time at the season launch, along with the naming of the captain for the season.
The special guest at the launch will be rugby league legend Phil Gould, who will be talking about his passion for the game and in particular, the sport in Papua New Guinea.
PNG Rugby Football League chief executive officer Brad Tassell said he was expecting a big crowd.
“It’s an even bigger build-up this year than last year and there is a lot of excitement and anticipation around for our second season in the Queensland Cup,” Tassell said.
“We have a few new faces mixed in with the players who now have a year under their belt in the competition — so the launch will whet the appetite for the start of the season in a week’s time.
“It is great to have Phil Gould up here. He paid his own way up just to be a part of the event, which shows his commitment to the promotion of PNG rugby league and the Hunters.”
“I can’t wait to see the new season video. We had a huge response when it was released last year and from all reports this year will be as good — if not better. The players will all be introduced and attendees will have the chance to secure each player’s new season jersey at the event, so I would encourage businesses that have not yet purchased a tale to get in quick.”
