SOUTHS, with the inclusion of three Papua New Guinea Hunters players, beat Tarangau 16-6 to register their first win after four rounds in the Port Moresby Rugby League (PRL) competition at the National Football Stadium on Saturday.
PNG Hunters’ McKenzie Yei bulldozed over for a try against four defenders near the uprights, with Clyde Osei and William Mone boosting their teammates’ spirits against Tarangau.
The scores were locked at 6- 6 at the break following converted tries to Yei and Teine Gende.
The second half provided a tougher contest but Souths managed to breach Tarangau’s defence, with tries to Daddy Boy and Charlie Jessie and a goal from Mone.
Tarangau retaliated but Souths held them off to secure the win.
Souths president Tom Tiki praised Mone, Yei and Osei for their efforts following the victory.
In the other matches, the Paga Panthers and Magani drew 4-4, Hohola Flies beat GoGo Cola Hawks and Royals defeated the Butterflies.
