THE Huon Gulf district administration says it is working within the resolutions of the joint district planning and budget priority committee.
It rubbished a claim by Wampur local level government president Peter Namus that it was acting outside the committee’s decisions.
Huon Gulf MP Sasa Zibe, district administrator Tony Ase and members of the committee said the other LLG presidents had distanced themselves from Namus’ statement.
Morobe LLG president Michael Gape, Salamaua LLG president Joshua Haggai have distanced themselves from it.
His outburst follows last Thursday’s district project rollout at the Sir Ignatius Kilage stadium which he claimed fulfilled only half of the committee’s resolution.
He said some equipment went to the wrong groups resulting in in-fighting among the people especially in Wampar.
Zibe said: “Every decision were made known to the presidents and JPD&BPC members. It’s a collective decision and I deny his allegations.”
He said it was only fair that the people should be told how their funds were used.
“Those were his opinions. The other two presidents are not party to what he said,” Zibe said.
Haggai said: “The understanding was already there for the use of the vehicle and dinghies. We heard the explanation from the MP about their use.”
Gape said the K15,000 that Namus was referring to was part of the K200,000 from Zibe’s district services improvement programme funds for each LLG. It does not strictly belong to the presidents as claimed.
He said the two outboard motors taken by Namus were for capacity building in the Morobe and Salamaua LLG and should be returned.
