HUON Gulf rotary club is assisting Morobe special education resource centre (MSERC) and Buimo health centre in Lae with the donation of a 20-foot container each.
Huon Gulf rotary president Cynia Sanchez said Buimo health centre had requested a container so that it could be able to set up its own laboratory to carry out tests.
She said the health centre catered for a large number of people living outside the city and it was necessary that a laboratory be constructed at the health centre to make it easier and convenient for the residents to travel to and from the centre, to get their lab results.
Mrs Sanchez said the construction of the laboratory was carried out by Extreme Work Ventures.
She said work on the container for the new laboratory, would include the layout of a concrete stump and concrete walkway, fabrication of roof frame and installation of roofing sheets, installation of ceiling lining and wall lining, fabrication of sink benches, plumbing works, electrical works, supply and installation of doors and windows, painting and installation of tiles for flooring.
Part of the laboratory project would be funded by the Westpac Bank of Lae, branch manager Jacob Rara said.
The MSERC will use their container as room for storage of books and office materials.
