DOORS of opportunity have been opened for students of Hutjena Secondary on Buka Island, in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, as the Telikom Foundation connected the Clean IT website.
It was all smiles across the room, the atmosphere was still as students and teachers took their places in front of the computers.
They waited to see what the Clean IT website could offer to their education.
Telikom Foundation has once again come to add value to the lives of school children around the country.
Hutjena Secondary was connected to Clean IT online library for the students.
About 700 students will benefit from this service that will make learning easier.
For Hutjena, a school located in an island province, updated information for students’ education is hard to access.
Internet service is rarely used by students for their research and assignments.
Now with Clean IT connected to 11 computers in the school’s laboratory,
it will be easier and faster, especially for senior students to obtain information.
“We really appreciate the connection of the online library to our computers.
“We are thankful to the foundation. Clean IT will help us a lot in our research and this is a big bonus to our learning,” head girl Emma Schmidt said.
She said the Clean IT service would boost students as they would be more competitive against the those students living in bigger centres.
Most times, students from smaller towns are left behind in academic performance due to poor educational services.
The students and teachers make use of the little resources available to enhance their education.
But with Telikom  Foundation’s help, Hutjena is ready to improve its students’ performance with the other schools around the country.
Deputy principal administration, Joseph Rangkui, was speechless at first to express his gratitude to the foundation.
“Thank you Telikom Foundation for putting us in a level we can compete with the rest of the schools in the country.
“We are proud of the online library service as it is a plus for Hutjena Secondary School.”
