Hypermarket faces local produce challenges

SUPPLYING local farm produce to the Port Moresby market is challenging, especially with unreliable air freighting services, says RH Hypermarket assistant manager Phil Ager.
He said the company would continue to make available local farm produce which customers preferred.
“RH Hypermarket buys as much local fruit and vegetables as possible. This requires a strong degree of communication with our suppliers who work very closely with the farmers. Our produce comes from many areas covering Western, Southern, Chimbu and 9-Mile in Port Moresby.”
He said the best quality produce had to be air freighted. The problems are cargo space availability, flights being on time, late cancellations and weather conditions.
