THE Institute of Business Studies has signed an agreement with Telikom PNG Ltd for the state-owned enterprise to provide fibre-optic internet connection to its campus at Mt Eriama, in the National Capital District.
During the signing of the agreement yesterday at the IBS Saraga Campus boardroom at 6-Mile, in NCD, institute chairman Mick Nades said the agreement brought new technology with faster internet access for students.
“This will help us to move forward to achieve our vision of becoming a world-class education institution,” Nades said.
Telikom acting chief commercial officer, Kone Kula said they were very happy to enter into such an agreement that would help the young generation.
“This agreement will bring the world closer to the students to do their academic research,” Kula said.
Institute director Sadiq Ali said the partnership fulfilled one of the pillars of Vision 2050, which was making Public Private Partnership a reality.
The institute now has three campuses – Saraga, 6-Mile in NCD, Mt Eriama at 11-Mile in NCD, and Enga.
It has been affiliated with Southern Cross University of New South Wales, Australia, since 1999 and offers its degree programmes in accounting, business, human resource management, information technology and marketing.
This affiliation has made the institute to be the first and only institution in the country to offer internationally-recognised bachelors degree programmes face to face in PNG.
