THE Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) will be set up before the end of the year, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says.

He said the mechanism to set up ICAC had already been set in motion and the first reading of the bill would be in next month’s session of Parliament.

“No other government has ever looked into this (setting up ICAC),” O’Neill told a fundraising event on Saturday night to celebrate 12 months in office.

“We have asked our officials, headed by the chief secretary, to travel around the country consulting with the community on any issues they wish to raise.
