Identify genuine landowner group

Letters

THE people of Lower Foe in Kutubu, Southern Highlands, are concerned that some city-based associations and companies have been intercepting their landowner benefits in Port Moresby.
This time, the same group of people are trying to access a K10.5 million commitment made to the people of Lower Foe, following a recent protest by the people.
This concern is from clans in PDL 2, PPL2, PNG LNG segments 5 and 6 and Gobe PDL 4 in Lower Foe, representing the people of Kantobo, Gobe, Surawabo, Sorotage, Humane, Wabigese and Kaiage villages.
The clan chairmen from these project impact areas in Lower Foe want Ira Korahi Development Corporation (IDC) to receive that money on their behalf for them to do the budget breakup in Kutubu and not Port Moresby by few individuals.
The State, Petroleum, Energy, Finance and Treasury departments are urged not to release the cheque without confirming with IDC, who is working with petroleum and gas companies operating here in Kutubu.
We thank the Government, under Prime Minister James Marape for acknowledging us and granting us our long overdue request.
All the chairmen of the clans in Lower Foe expect State representatives to deliver that money on ground before the public.
Since the beginning of the oil project in Kutubu, the people of Lower Foe were kept in the dark while people in Port Moresby struck deals to access funds on their behalf.
We want IDC to pick up that cheque on our behalf and bring it home so we make the break up here.
We don’t want that done by a few individuals in Port Moresby in the absence of the people.
We have missed out on infrastructure developments from both the Government and developers so we kindly ask those who purport to represent the people of Lower Foe to come home to identify themselves and prove the consents you received from us to work your way into offices in Port Moresby.

Dukes Anagu,
