THE International Food Corporation (IFC) yesterday donated K18,000 to the Morobe provincial police command for the purchase and installment of new air conditioning units.
The payment was made in the form of a cheque by chief executive officer, Rosedeon Zaily to Morobe provincial police commander Peter Guinness at the IFC cannery at Malahang.
Zaily said police had to be equipped and resourced to work well to provide an environment conducive to the operations of business.
“The gesture is part of IFC’s corporate social responsibility programme which identifies and assists community activities and addresses social issues,” he said.
In accepting the cheque, Guinness expressed his sincere appreciation at the donation.
“It’s not always that the police department receives such donations from business houses and I am very grateful for that,” he said.
He said with a poor air conditioning system, it had been very difficult for police in carrying out daily duties.
Guinness said the donation of the air conditioning units to Lae Police would support policing in the province.
