TIA Broncos won an armwrestle against the Toks Mix Dogs 6-0 in their round 9 Hohola Rugby League Off-season A grade fixture at the Ipi Park on Sunday.
In a bruising affair played on a good surface (by Ipi Park standards) defence won the day as 80 minutes of football could only yield a solitary try to the Broncos.
Tia lock Kambi Igiman, pictured, crossed for the only four-pointer of the game in the 70th minute with centre Ashley Waula adding the extras to hand the Dogs their first loss of the season.
Both rosters featured players from the Port Moresby Rugby League obviously using the off-season competition to build up form and fitness for the coming regular season including the Digicel Cup.
The playoffs bottleneck has started as the Dogs, Texas Melona, Mutrus Brothers, Raiders Namona, BP Knights, Freeway Bumpers, BP Mix Mates and 25 Dragons are all in the top eight and looking to consolidate their finals spots.
The Broncos, 4-Mile Cats, Bus Stop Spartans, Nest United and JV Panthers need results to go their way to sneak into the post season.
