Illegal miners on the rise in Gulf

Normal, Papua

ILLEGAL miners have become rampant in Gulf province over the year as groups of small scale miners have flooded into the Taure Lakekamu area in Malalaua district, Gulf province, in search of gold prospects.
The Kamea Land Resource Group (KLRG), which is an umbrella company of the Taure Lakekamu area, is seeking action to rid these opportunists off their land.
The group said in a statement that there were  six groups of illegal miners camping on site with about 10 to 12 people a group.
