Illegal rugby game ending school earlier on Fridays
The National, Friday July 25th, 2014
I WRITE on behalf of the silent majority of parents and guardians of Kelerakwa Primary School in Abau of Central regarding the early closure of the school every Friday.
We have noticed that the East Aroma 9’s rugby league teams are currently using the school field every Friday without the knowledge of parents, guardians and the community.
Due to the games’ schedule, students have been sent home early on Fridays.
A number of teams from the surrounding areas of Kupiano town are participating in this competition since June 6, 2014.
They are illegally using the field without the approval from the district education authorities and concerned parents.
The school calendar clearly states that Friday is a normal school day, commencing 7.45 am and ends at 4.06 pm
Since the Grade Eight examinations are just around the corner, parents are very concerned and want quality education to be taught to their children without any disruption.
The board members and teaching staff of the school have miserably failed to do this by not informing the education authorities about the players using the field.
Can the Abau district education superintendent and head teacher of the school inform the organisers of the games to stop using the field on Friday afternoons?
