In need of basic services

Letters

SANGERA is one of the very remotest village in Makambu-Pangembit of East Yangoru LLG in Yangoru-Saussia, East Sepik.
It is situated right at the back of Kiniambu-Haripmo Plains.
The geographical settings here makes it very difficult for basic services to reach the people.
There is no road link here and people have been suffering in silence for ages since Independence in 1975.
It is about a 4 to 5-hour walk along muddy tracks and crossing through swampy lands to get to the nearby village of Kiniambu, where there is a road link to town (Maprik, Yangoru or Wewak).
After arriving from town, the PMV will dropped you off at Kiniambu at around 6.30pm.
Then from there you will be travelling for another 4-5 hours back to the village with your cargo.
Finally, you’ll get home at 10-11pm.
The very sad part is that in this very remote part of East
Sepik is a primary school and you know what, our poor teachers struggle every day like that just to implement or deliver quality education for our children.
However, apart from road, people here are also in need of medical supplies because there is no aid post.
There has been promises and commitments made for a new road from Kiniambu to Sangera by our district leaders but nothing has been done.
We are still struggling and other people used to label us as “Back Page Yangoruans”.
Therefore, we are now crying and begging our good leader, Richard Maru, to look in our direction and make it a priority that by the end of the year, there will be a road reaching Sangera.
