Independent and corrupt

Letters

ON Sunday we will celebrate our 43rd Independence anniversary – while corruption is described as deeply rooted.
Corruption is sweeping the nation at an unprecedented pace.
The good citizens are joining the chorus nationwide, singing the melodious stanzas of the beautiful national anthem, proud of their land, sea and diversity of life.
Corruption is a human induced disaster. It is a cancer and it requires gradual change through a strategic approach.
It took 43 years to grow its roots and it will take another 43 years to subside to zero, but if we stand together as a nation, we can make a change. Change starts from within and someone has to start it somewhere, then it will spread like the ripple of a wave. The Education Department has a big role to play. Students should be taught about corruption in schools and lessons should have a strong emphasis on ethics and good governance.
