INDIAN High Commissioner Dr A M Gondane believes the way forward for developing countries is to maintain the “spirit of sharing”.
“Sharing is a language only developing countries understand and it should be practised so we can strengthen and help each other,” he said.
“Even though India is a developing country, we would like to share with PNG what we can spare in order to help PNG in its development.”
Gondane said this last Thursday while presenting Mt Hagen Secondary School with a computer server to link its three computer laboratories.
The server, worth more than K15,000 was bought for the school by Indian company, Essar Projects (PNG), and was India’s gift to Western Highlands as part of its 66th independence celebrations last week.
Gondane was in the province to celebrate India’s independence last Wednesday with the Indian community.
The company was set up in Mt Hagen early last year, bringing expertise in construction and in oil and gas sites.
He said students needed to be computer literate and be able to use the internet to learn and explore outside of the classroom setting.
While visiting the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Barawagi, Chimbu, he said his country would help students to secure spots in Indian schools to train in technical skills.
