Indonesian official launches academy

An Indonesian education attaché visited Kerema in Gulf last Monday to launch the Elema Bahasa Indonesia Academy.
Local youth leader and chairman of Elema Academy, Teretere Maraka, welcomed Indonesian education attaché Achmad Tavip Syah.
The visit of the Indonesian mission was also to discuss education cooperation between people of Kerema and Indonesia.
Tavip said Indonesia and Papua New Guinea had been in good cooperation, including in the education sector.
He said many Papua New Guinean students had their chances to become part of scholarship programmes in Indonesia.
The scholarship programme is for a degree or art and culture visit.
Tavip said the importance of education was supposed to be attention for all people, not only the formal authorities but also by the community itself.
The closest intake is for the Darmasiswa scholarship programme which opens for registration from January 1 till March 1.
