ABOUT 30 detainees at Bomana Correctional Institution in Port Moresby will be participating in the Juvenile Centre mid-year programmes.
Juvenile senior inspector Timothy Kaupe said he was looking forward to utilise 30 detainees in its annual activities starting this month.
“Currently under my section, we have 15 inmates – 1 convicted and 14 in remand waiting on court,” he said.
“These detainees will be involved in our Join In Join Out programmes initiated by Planet Shakers (Believer Centre) in terms of mentoring, take part in the fishpond and farming projects, yoga by NCDC and others programmes that joins along.”
Kaupe said NCDC allocated three tables at Gordon market for the juvenile inmates.
He said this would pave way for the centre to make some money through sale of flower pots and other produce the inmates grew.
