Inspectors not performing

Letters

LET me raise this critically
serious issue that has been affecting teachers’ promotions nationwide.
This year, 50 per cent of the 60,000 teachers nationwide have missed out on promotions.
Teacher promotions depend on the work of school inspectors.
School inspectors nationwide hardly carry out their duties due to funding constraints.
Funding comes from the Education department.
The department has not provided necessary financial and logistics support to inspectors to visit all schools.
This has been going on for the last 20 years.
This issue has been raised many times in the department.
However, the department has done nothing about it.
The department has been spending huge amounts of money on unimportant activities such as teachers’ international day cerebrations.
For example, last year, the department spent K500,000 in a day in Kundiawa to celebrate the World Teachers’ day – which the minister also attended.
Can the responsible people do something about this issue of lack of support for school inspectors?
