THE Kumul Training Institute (KTI) announced the start of its 2020 academic year at a press conference at its Tokorara campus in Port Moresby on Friday.
Director Max Kuri said classes for its certificate and diploma programmes would start on Feb 10.
Kuri said KTI had established skills centres in Lae, Kokopo, Kimbe, Madang, Wewak, Goroka, Mt Hagen, Popondetta and Alotau delivering affordable competency-based training to allow students practical skills and experiences to be employed in industry and business.
He said his institution was approved and certified by the government under National Training Councils (NTC) to provide training for Papua New Guineans across the country through its various programmes including businesses courses, computing and information technology (IT), plant operators, driving courses, occupational health and safety (OHS) and those with Technical Vocational Education Training (Tvet) accreditation.
Kuri said KTI had recently introduced aviation studies which included aircraft maintenance engineering for students and individuals who had an interest in the aviation industry.
He said PNG was a developing nation with natural resources and skilled people were needed to develop and manage those industries and his institution was facilitating the need for a skilled workforce.
He said KTI was one of a few only locally-owned private institutions in the country that was promoting and providing quality training with its equipment and facilities including a recently purchased crane.
He said course fees were affordable with a certificate programme costing K2,500 while diploma programmes were K2,900.
