Institute marks day

 PNG Industry Malaria Institute (PIMI) was one of the organisations that was present at the observance of World Malaria Day in Port Moresby last weekend.

PIMI is an initiative to tackle malaria as a co-ordinator or agent between resource companies, the government and local communities.

One of PIMI’s objectives is “to enlist the country’s major resource sector companies to accelerate implementation of National Malaria Control strategy and aim for elimination of malaria by 2050 in PNG”.

PIMI’s concept is to support major resource operators to create public-private partnerships to accelerate malaria control.
