PARUL University in Western India will provide 50 per cent scholarship for Papua New Guinea students to study at the university, says Thomas Pillar.
Pillar, who is the director of Asia Pacific Institute of Applied Social Economic and Technical Studies (Apiasets), said this during the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Apiasets and the university in Port Moresby recently.
“Parul University is giving us this opportunity to study in not only in Apiasets but abroad,” he said.
Pillar said that PNG students would study at Parul University and would return home to contribute to the development of the nation.
“We will send six of our staff and students this year, who will study in their bachelor and post graduate programmes and we will continue to send students in the next 10 years.”
Pillar said Apiasets had given a second chance to students who could not make it through the formal education system to ensure the Government’s leaving no one behind policy was achieved.
Parul University director Vandit Anjaria said the university had 38 faculties with more than 45,000 students from all over the world and PNG would be the first in the Pacific.
He said they would give priority to students who came through Apiasets via PNG International Education Board and would like to see students study in India for a bright future.
