Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited has partnered with the police and the medical profession to clamp down on illegal and fraudulent third party motor vehicle accident insurance claims around the country.

Chief executive officer Joe Wemin said they have come across suspicious or fraudulent accident claims lodged to MVIL for compensation and they were seriously going to get to the bottom of this issue.

“We are partnering with police and doctors who are party to the process of accident insurance claims and we have piloted the project in Central last year,” Wemin said.

“This is a new partnership we are establishing to clamp down on fraudulent claims because we have suspected a high number of fraudulent claims being lodged to MVIL.”

Central highway traffic commander Snr Sergeant Clement Uro, OIC NCD traffic, Insp Philip Koliadi, OIC Police Internal Investigation Unit Charles Winvan, doctors from the Port Moresby General Hospital accidents and emergency division and MVIL management have agreed to work together to clamp down those fraudsters involved.

The first lot of claims from Central that appeared suspicious were given to ACP Central/NCD Sylvester Kalaut for investigation.
