Interim committee for Weightlifting Fed

THE PNG Weightlifting Federation (PNGWLF) will have an interim management committee to oversee its affairs while it prepares for this year’s major events.
The committee will be headed by former PNG Sports Fedeartion and Olympic Committee secretary-general Sir John Dawanincura and includes Fiona Speedy, Vincent Bull and Stan Walker.
The main task of the committee will be: 
* To prepare the PNG team for the Oceania and South Pacific championships (May 10-13) being run concurrently with the Arafura Games in Darwin;
* Having PNGWLF and members conform to the requirements of the PNGSFOC and justification committee; and
* To prepare for the extraordinary general meeting of the PNGWLF scheduled for June 20.
Sir John added that a new PNGWLF constitution would be drawn up by PNGSFOC legal adviser Bull and vice-president Walker.
He said major sponsor Trukai Industries would play a vital role in developing the federation and weightlifters by providing composite funding with the PNGSFOC and the Oceania Weightlifting Federation.
The other major events on the weightlifting calendar are the world junior titles in Malaysia next month, the Pacific Games in August and Commonwealth Games qualifiers in South Africa at the end of the year.
PNG coach Douglas Mea announced the team to Darwin saying it had all of the country’s leading lifters particularly in the women’s division and was expected to perform well.
The PNGWLF  team for Darwin: Fred Oala (56kg), Morea Baru (62kg), Toua Udia (69kg), Udu Heni, Grox Soho (77kg), Steven Kari (85kg), Kathleen Hare (48kg), Hitolo Dogodo, Grolia Kimbu (53kg), Monalisa Kassman (58kg), Rita Kari (63kg), Sandra Ako (69kg), Guba Hale, Chesed Karo Mula, Tau Daure (75kg) and Lorraine Harry (over 75kg).
