Invest in curing other diseases, not Covid-19
WHY fund K10.2million to an unknown company, Niugini Biomed Ltd, which was only set up in August when Covid-19 was not even a pandemic in Papua New Guinea?
Is the Government blind or just hungry for more Covid-19 donor funding?
You only have to visit the nearest hospital morgue and check the cause of deaths to see that people are dying from tuberculosis and cancer, and yet we are giving K10.2million to a private company to do a research to find a cure for Covid-19.
Why?
Have we invested in finding a cure for cancer yet?
Have we funded our local institutions such as the Institute of Medical Research or the Central Pubic Health Laboratory yet?
Can the national operations control centre for Covid-19 tell us how many active Covid-19 cases there are currently?
I know the total is about 500 but how many out of that are active?
Papua New Guineans seem to be recovering on their own.
We are not dying from it.
It is not a pandemic in PNG!
The seven that died would have died anyway with or without Covid-19.
Put money into where it’s needed, enough of this and start taking back PNG.

This is another scam that the government is going into knowing very well that the current medical institutions needed much funding for research and development. Past governments created their own little organisation like BDA and NADP just to name those to support their political interests and now this government is doing the same. Any intelligent person will know that IMR and UPNG Medical School needed the latest state of the art equipment but government has suddenly approved funding for an unknown company.
One wonders what the team was smoking or rather what the government officials smoked before the meetings.
