Investigate, remove rogue police personnel

Letters

SOME members of the Royal PNG Constabulary are not faithfully and honestly executing their task to safeguard the interest of people and promote peace and unity in the society.
Some are involved in unlawful practices for their personal gain.
Police personnel are supposed to be leading by example by strictly enforcing the laws without fear or favour.
Some tend to breach the very laws that they expect citizens to respect.
In most cases, armed policemen always take advantage of their weapons and uniforms to cause damage and fatal injuries to poor people without proper cause.
This is totally wrong.
The actions of the few paints a picture that most of them were not properly educated and trained at Bomana Police College or might have got in because of some other unacceptable arrangements such as bribery and nepotism.
Citizens have already lost their trust in the police because they classify them as thieves, robbers, murderers, liars, and drunkards.
They have now started to develop a sense of fear towards policemen.
We are all obliged to abide by the law and no one is above the law.
The law is a separate body of its own and remains neutral to everybody.
The law applies fairly to both the rich and poor, young and old, illiterate or literate.
The silent majority have had enough of their brutality and are now calling for a proper investigation and assessment of all police to identify the rotten apples and remove them from the force.
