Investigation into TFF fund praised

Letters

I WELCOME the announcement by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to carry out enquiries into the Tuition Fee Free (TFF) education subsidy (process of allocating funds by the department to withdrawal by schools at the Provincial and District Education offices).
There are schools in Morobe who received TFF subsidies but hardly no evidence of development in terms of infrastructure over the last nine years.
There are head teachers who compromised with district education authorities to retain the head teacher’s positions.
In primary schools, a teacher is required to teach a class.
But primary school teachers had practiced shift teaching, making head teachers become a non-teaching head and focus their attention on TFF.
There are evidence of head teachers who don’t have daily records of expenditure through combined cash book and acquittal of the funds expanded.
The awarding of contract and appointment of coordinators to coordinate the distribution of basic supplies components needs to be thoroughly investigated.
Schools in the remote Waria Valley in Bulolo district and remote hinterlands of Wain, Erap and Nabak are still waiting while the policy is changing.
As a concerned member of the community, I stand ready to provide information where there’s need to see transparency and accountability come into play.
