INVESTING in human resources will benefit the country, Member for North Waghi Fabian Pok said when presenting a cheque for school fee subsidies to the North Waghi students Association at the University of PNG.

“I believe one of our policies is to develop human resources and I will help with school fees to assist students in my district at universities and colleagues,” Pok said.

He presented a cheque for K186,000 to the UPNG vice- chancellor Prof Albert Mellam for the North Waghi students at the university yesterday.

Pok who is also Minister for Defence has committed K4.5 million to date for school fee subsidies for students in his district.

“Every year K1.5 million is set aside for school fees and I try as much as possible to pay up for all the students attending universities and colleges as well as those schooling abroad and those at private schools like business colleges, and ITI,” he said.

“I believe human resources is the way forward for any country to develop and I believe when men and women are educated the world is at your feet. When you are not educated, you carry the world on your shoulder, you burden yourself,” Pok said.

Former North Waghi students’ association president Michael Meg together with president of Jiwaka Students Association Hercules Jim said more than a hundred students have benefited from these school fee subsidies provided under the leadership of their member.
