IPA online registration to ease issues and complaints: Official

THE Investment Promotion Authority’s (IPA) new online registry is expected to go live next month, acting deputy registrar of companies Harriet Kokiva says.
Kokiva said it would ease issues and complaints such as the turnaround time on account top-ups as well as registry and yearly returns under the existing system.
She said IPA was doing registration through online and paper filings, seeing between 70,000 and 80,000 a year.
While staff numbers have not been increased to cater for this digital improvement, they still managed to get through 80 to 90 per cent of the work. “So the complaints are from just 15 per cent.
“But it’s not that we’re intentionally overlooking you,” Kokiva said.
“When we have the new online registry come live, it should ease most issues.”
Kokiva and an IPA team were in Lae last week for a meeting with business owners, IPA agents, and the provincial business development officers.
Momase regional officer Warren Mathias said it was routine awareness carried out on IPA roles and functions, and the new changes like the online registry and reviewed acts.
“During this time, we get to answer the frequently asked question and explain thoroughly the different functions and processes undertaken,” Mathias said.
“We also work with the Internal Revenue Commission for this to give them a one-stop question time.
“It’s only the banks that we need to bring onboard so we adequately feed information to business people in Morobe,” Mathias said.
