Ipatas Cup to be launched on Central leg

THE annual Ipatas Cup rugby league competition kicks off this weekend with the Jiwaka, Western Highlands and Central legs opening the comp with games this weekend.
Chief executive officer Timothy Lepa said the Jiwaka Leg would start today with finals on Sunday.
Eight teams — KG Knights, Kimil Coffee Raiders, DC Raiders, KK Hawks, Orimax Tigers, Kuma Cowboys, Kerrex Rangers and Jimi Kantri — have been confirmed to play at Minj Oval.
For the Central leg, Lepa said the competition would start on Sunday and have its finals on Tuesday.
Southern Leg coordinator Simon Maima confirmed that that Central leg will also have eight teams taking the field at the Kwikila station oval.
Lepa is expected to be in Kwikila for Sunday’s Central leg kick-off.
Cup patron and Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas as well as representatives from co-sponsor Coca Cola Amatil are expected at the Central leg kick off.
Maima called on participating teams and fans in the province to attend the launch.
The Western Highlands leg kicks off on Monday with their finals to be completed by Friday.
Lepa said the other provincial legs would start next week.
Each leg will have eight teams.
