Teams from the Southern region taking part the Ipatas Cup have been warned to attend meetings or face consequences for their absence.
This was revealed yesterday after only five representatives from the 10 interested clubs turned up at the Port Moresby rugby league club house to finalise the number of teams and the draws for the Southern region challenge.
Clubs that were present were Port Moresby Butterflies, Kerema West, Pom Diwai, Morata Swans while Southern regional Ipatas Cup coordinator Gwaibo Mairi stood in for Rigo Raiders.
Mairi, who also chaired the meeting, agreed with some of the concerns raised and also made note of them.
Port Moresby Butterflies patron, Peter Oresi raised the concern that teams wanting to take part must also attend meetings called to finalise matters for the game which kicks off on Feb 17.
So far only five that have attended the meeting have qualified while a team from Aroma Coast, to be led by Chris Enara, sent their apology for their absence due to a funeral.
A final meeting is set on Wednesday midday at the same venue to close the books for the official draws to be released this Friday.
Club representatives are urged to turn up for this last meeting.
