ENGA is focusing on education to drive development in the province, Governor Peter Ipatas said.
Speaking at the Kopen Secondary School graduation, he said Enga would drive human resource development in the province.
Ipatas told 309 Grade 12 and 242 Grade 10 students that God had a purpose for Enga students.
“Despite our weakness the Good Lord is there to assist us to give you confidence.”
He also mentioned about the closure of the Porgera mine and the effects it would have on the people.
“You are very blessed that some of you will pursue your education within the province rather than going elsewhere wasting money and time,” he said.
He said this was a tremendous opportunity for graduates to pursue their goals in life.
Porgera is the world’s second largest mine deposit with gold and copper.
Enga has a teachers’ college, the institute of business studies, technical college, school of nursing, University of Papua New Guinea open campus and other vocational schools.
“The Enga government through partnership with the churches is to deliver quality education because Enga means skuli save – education is vital for all,’’ he said.
“I am very proud to let you know that 240 spaces are available from IBS Enga, Enga Teachers College, Enga Technical College, Kungumanda School of Nursing and other Enga open campus.”
He said there were two spaces available for females and males pursuing flying courses with Airlines PNG.
