THE Independent Public Business Corporation (IPBC) has acknowledged the participation and effort of local communities and landowners in government-funded projects, which would open up more developments.
This was the view of Parkop Kurua, the IPBC representative at the contract signing of the Ramu 1 hydro-power station rehabilitation between PNG Power Ltd and Austrian company Andritz Hydro in Yonki last Wednesday. He made special mention of the Arona valley communities as stakeholders in this huge development in their area.He said such respectable approach was important as part of the nation’s development process, especially when state-owned enterprises, including PPL, were expanding or improving their services to meet growing demands.
He told Arona valley locals that the government was looking at options to relieve PPL and had plans in place for the Ramu 2 hydro station which was in its feasibility stage.
Kurua also thanked them for signing the initial agreement to see the Ramu 1 project happen.
