ISABELLA Kila, born with a rare disorder that saw her without both arms and a leg, says her achievement is simply God’s way of showing people that He is amazing and nothing is impossible.
Isabella was welcomed into the Papua New Guinea legal profession on Friday, during the admission of lawyers at the Waigani National Court House.
The 25-year-old from Rigo, Central, thanked dad Benjamin and mum Judy, who stood by her all through the years.
“I was so determined to be educated,” Isabella said.
“I didn’t know the struggles that came with it.
“I just wanted to be in school, but despite that, they (my parents) stood by me and this is where I am today.
“I owe everything to them.
“I would like to thank my friends, because when I’m at home, my parents are there, but when I’m at school, I had my friends to help with dropping my assignments, help me to class, or anything, so I also owe this achievement to my friends as well,” she said.
“Most importantly, I owe it to God, because He has done everything for me.
“He has removed a part of me and replaced it with something that is bigger and greater.
“That is simply His way of showing to people that He is an amazing God and nothing is impossible to Him.”
Isabella encouraged everyone not to give up but have positive mindsets.
“It is said that the mind is the battlefield, if you have negative thoughts, that is what you will attract, but if you have positive thoughts, that is what you attract,” she said.
“Through your actions, think about it and you do it, never doubt yourself.”
Her dad, Benjamin, was emotional as he described his daughter’s journey as a very long and challenging one.
“This has been a journey, a very long and challenging one; her achievement is an achievement for everyone who supported her,” Benjamin said.
“As Isabella’s parents, we supported her but there are others who had followed her journey from very early times where she made a promise that she would be a lawyer one day.
“She had to fulfil that vision.
“It’s a long journey.
“It was hard but if you have a will and determination, nothing is impossible and that’s what has happened here.
“She had the will power and determination to succeed despite all the obstacles and everything you can imagine.
“The infrastructure in place that is not conducive to her situation,” he said.
“Words can’t express the joy and how proud I am for my daughter’s achievement.
“It’s one of a kind in the family, in the area where I come from and of course in the country.”
Benjamin thanked the Cheshire Homes and RH Foundation for supporting Isabella.
He thanked those who have been following her journey.
“All in all, I thank God for her achievement, for nothing is impossible for Him,” Benjamin said.
Isabella is the third child in a family of five.

  • Congratulations Ms Isabella. This is an unbelievable achievement when many able young citizens in PNG are too lazy to make a living for themselves. God bless and wishing you many happy returns.

  • Congratulations Isabella on your admission as a Laywer. May the almighty God continues to protect and guide you while practicing as a Laywer.

  • For those children with 2 arms and 2 legs who are not doing anything useful in life this should be a motivation to you.
