Isou get K75,000 boost

A COMPANY yesterday announced a sponsorship of K75,000 for Gulf Isou which would help the team complete the remainder of their Digicel Cup season.
Kikori Oil Investment (KOI) chairman Abraham Murepo said they wanted to help expose raw talents from Gulf through their sponsorship.
“This is just a bronze sponsorship for Isou,” he said.
“It’s not much compared with Petroleum Resource Kutubu’s (PRK) sponsorship of the team.
“PRK is the naming rights sponsor, but this is just to give more support to the team.
“We watched how they played last week against Port Moresby Vipers and we were satisfied.
“We know that this is a worthy investment and we are proud to come on board as a sponsor.
“The other reason we’re supporting the team is that we want to see more local players from Gulf, especially Kikori have a clear pathway to represent their province through Isou.
“We have enough raw talents in the province and we want to see them play semi-professional rugby league in the long run.”
Murepo said KOI had also supported soccer and basketball teams from Gulf.
The sponsorship was presented to Gulf Sports Trust chief executive Lawrence Lahari.
Lahari thanked KOI for the support.
“We want to make sure that Isou provide a pathway for our Gulf players,” he said.
“We will ensure that talents from places like Kikori are recognised and we want to make sure that they get the opportunity to play for Isou.”
