Is Israel a blessing or a curse?

Letters

NOW that United States President Donald Trump has made the stand of the century, it is inevitable that the rest of the world will be drawn into it and sooner or later make their stand clear – whether they recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital or not.
I wish to be blunt here and urge our prime minister and his foreign affairs minister to take an affirmative stand on the decision by Trump.
It is for the following reasons: Blessing or curse.
There are many biblical quotes to support this, however, I shall pick on two to support the two points above.
First, the blessing.
In Genesis 12:1-3, God promised Abraham that “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great,
so that you (Israel) will be a blessing.”
Indeed Israel has been a blessing to the world through its scientists, bankers, businesspeople, doctors, as well as advances in agriculture and the tech industry.
If we stand with and hold the hand of Israel, we embrace the blessing for our nation.
Now, the curse.
In Genesis 12:3, God said: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
This is where it could go horribly wrong for us, Mr PM, if we make the wrong decision.
